By getting government out of the way.
Lower the tax bite and other regulation that they but on them.
by ending corporate welfare
so small business can compete fairly
so the countrys dollar is worth a crap
I think that the next President should concentrate on rebuilding and improving road, bridges and sewer infrastructure and Intermodal transportation. These two sectors will engage small business for years. Their is near unanimity among Economist that infrastructure improvements provides opportunity on the local level, close to neighborhoods, villages and communities to enhance small businesses. Currently, the Federal Government has placed an unfunded mandate on cities to improve infrastructure on the City dime within 20 years. This is not feasible, it would take more like 40 years. Local Governments are stressed to maintain their credit worthiness, and have a bond sale to fund these projects alongside, capital and operational budgets. Small business can identify local incentives in their own community and the related spin off if the Federal government would fund the mandates.
Intermodal transportation can be expanded. This would be shipping, air flight, trucking and wireless retail business at a particular location. Centuries ago, Egypt was built to be a propserous nation due to it’s location of the Nille River. The railroad tracks in Califorinia made the gold rush in San Francisco a phenomena that built many cities in the State of California. If we have the political will for Intermodal transportation and make it high tech, and tie it into physical transport and logistics to make cities more efficient in export and importation this too will benefit the local economy, particularly small business. It promotes trade and those in trades get a piece of the pie.
In the mid 80s a middle weight fight was to be fought outside in California. The day of the fight it was a downpour, but a record crowd attended the fight and Hollywood moguls and stars attended to see the fight. A few smart kids purchased trash bags and stood at the entrance and sold the trash bags at $5.00 per bag. Here is an example of small business being able to position itself alongside big business. Those kids and families would say that the local economy benefitted from that small business. Simple is key. Keep it simple, link it to High Tech, Logistics and Transportation, rebuild City Infrastructure and the spin off will benefit small business. This is the model that China is utilizing. It is their small businesses that make them formidible. China does not have large Corporate structures, they have big invasive Government.
